Is self-love selfish?

If you’re not sure about the idea of loving yourself, it can be easy to confuse self-love with vanity, self-absorption, or just being selfish. Let me be clear: the exact opposite is actually true.

Self-love is an act of SERVICE to the world. It is not taking from others in order to focus on yourself, it is about first focusing on yourself, and then you’re in the perfect place to give to others from a place of authenticity and wholeness.

Think about it: when you’re not loving yourself, you’re actually being self-focused. You’re thinking about your flaws, you’re obsessing over your mistakes, you’re in your own head.

But if you already feel good about yourself (because you’ve taken the time to do the work and love yourself), then you can get out of the way and show up fully as yourself, ready to inspire the world, to help, to serve.

I hope this week’s episode of The REL Show helps you realize that prioritizing yourself is non-negotiable if you want to live your biggest life helping others!

Read how I overcame my objections towards loving myself in my best-selling book, Turn Your Pain Into Art.

XOXO,
Ariel
